Can you briefly tell us about yourself?
My name is Love Kyei-Smith. I’m a teacher by profession, but also a Fashion & Beauty vlogger on Youtube.
What made you passionate about fashion? (To be precise, your style of fashion)
I’ve always had a love for fashion, since I was a little girl. I remember dressing up for church each week and my dad taking pictures of me in my different outfits. In terms of my personal style, less is more. I like to keep my looks simple and minimal, which for me translates into a classy, chic and sophisticated look.
How did you get into vlogging and what motivated you?
I started my Youtube channel back in 2011 simply as a hobby. I enjoyed watching youtube videos and thought to myself why not give it a try! And the rest as they say is history!
What do you think is the best strategy in vlogging?
I think it’s really important to have a genuine love and passion for it, because it you will be received much better by your audience. Also there is alot of time and effort that goes into filming and editing, so if you don’t love what you do, it will becomea chore!
What do you think are the strengths and weaknesses in fashion vlogging?
I would say the positives are that you get to interact with other like minded, creative people and become part of that fashion vlogging community. The negatives are that it is a saturated market, so the challenge is to stand out from the next person.
Who is/are your inspirations and why?
There isn’t any specific person who I get my inspiration from, because just jumping on instagram and going through my feed or explore pages give me so much inspiration!
Do you have a favourite fashion magazine or journal?
I haven’t actually got a favourite magazine. I read pretty much everything online, and from various sources.
Where would you like to be with your fashion vlogging in the next 5 years?
I would definitely love to get more recognition, and continue to build my following. As well as do a collaboration with a major fashion or beauty brand.
Tell us about your greatest achievement.
I like to celebrate all my accomplishments, whether big or small. So recently I went over the the 20,000 subscriber mark on my youtube channel, and I currently have over 2 million views which is pretty awesome!
Recently, we’ve noticed that you have found interest in selling Ankara Off Shoulder tops on IG, what intrigued you? I’ve always enjoyed being able to incorporate my love for my culture through my style and fashion choices. For the last 6 years I’ve been getting ankara pieces made when I travel back to Ghana, and sharing it with my viewers. So offering some of these pieces was always in the cards, but it was a matter of timing. It just so happens that now was the right time!
What would you say is the greatest satisfaction of being a fashion vlogger? To know that there are people out there who not only value what you present, but gain ideas and inspiration from the looks that you share is a nice feeling!
Any future plans in your fashion and beauty vlogging?
I want to continue to grow my brand, as well build and expand my clothing line! By God’s grace AbenaLove will be a well known international brand!
